No, not "yard" dyed as I originally typed - although it did make me giggle.
Essex Yarn Dyed Linen from Robert Kaufman is a lightweight linen blend (55% linen/45% cotton) fabric with a luxurious hand and full-bodied drape. Perfect for fine linens heirloom projects, blouses, shirts, fuller skirts & dresses and light jackets. (obtained from Robert Kaufman)
Yarn dyed is differenct from regular Essex linen in that the yarn used to weave the linen varries in shades of the dye color. See how the black swatch below is not solid black?
To me, the yarn dyed linen has a softer look. It's slightly softer to the touch as well. I thought the drape might be different but it's nearly the same as the regular Essex linen (in my opinion).
Essex Yarn Dyed Linen is now available at Marmalade Fabrics.

It's really beautiful! I am a sucker for linen! Wish I could sew clothes worth a darn!
